Special to RSNA 2014, Nov. 20, 2014, Chicago—Continuing the innovation from its advanced expertise in radiation technology and x-ray device innovation, Turner MedTech, of Orem, Utah, is premiering ClearShield™ at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting Nov. 30–Dec. 4. ClearShield may be found in the South Hall Booth #4079 of McCormick Place.
ClearShield is lead-free, eco-friendly, and it complies with European Union RoHS requirements. ClearShield is composed of a patent-pending bismuth material that produces a clear acrylic lead-free sheet for reliable shielding protection from x-ray exposure. There is absolutely no lead utilized.
ClearShield comes in standard sizes, thicknesses and lead (Pb) equivalent shielding ratings. It may also be custom fabricated for specific needs. ClearShield is currently available in limited sizes with additional sizes scheduled for availability in Q1 2015.
ClearShield is a brand new option to traditional leaded glass or lead acrylic shielding materials. We are pleased to bring such a great example of innovation to market,” said Dr. Clark Turner, Founder and CEO of Turner MedTech. “The new ClearShield acrylic sheets are shatter resistant, transparent, and an excellent material for machining and rapid customization wherever x-ray shielding is required.”
urner noted that ClearShield provides an outstanding new solution for remote or portable x-ray and other medical and dental x-ray device shielding applications. In addition ClearShield is an excellent option for nuclear, government, military and industrial labs. Architects will find this a very important alternative for their facility design applications as well.
